Alba had
scheduled to come at 9 Monday morning to begin a new study with Katheryn, but
she did not make it. We will just have
to try again for another day. On Sunday,
Dwaine had talked with Daniel about some of his contacts during door knocking,
so we wanted to try to visit one contact he had. We left about 10 to go find Sylvia. She was standing outside her door and she let
us come in. Her situation was very
difficult. Her husband had left her and
was also drinking. She had a son who was
21, but she said he couldn’t work because he has special needs. She also had a
son that was 13. Additionally, as we
already knew, women have an especially difficult time finding work. She did say she was not attending a church
now and was interesting in visiting with us.
We are planning to return on Tuesdays, starting next week. We are prayerful for her situation and for
her desire to study. Next, we went by to
get an update on Celia and Terry. Terry
was working for the week, but the doctor said that she needed to come back on
Wednesday for a checkup and medication.
She is going to try to get more information on Terry’s condition. After lunch, I connected with Gisela to go to
visit Reina and Amalia. Reina was doing
well and it was a good study. She said
that she would make an effort to visit more. She has come to a few events over
a long time and she came to a meeting during the campaign and that was a good
experience for her. Amalia, however, was
not doing good. She had a bad headache
and therefore, I kept this study very short.
Finally, we had our evening New Converts class on church
discipline. It was a small number. We think communication was poor this week due
to our trek out of town on Sunday.
Hopefully, that will pick up next week.
We did make our final plan for 5 more lessons, to finish up when we
return to the States in September. Then,
we will have lessons ready next time we repeat the class. We hope that will be soon! We ended with some coke floats and that was
delicious!
