Door knocking and prayer. Dwaine and I focused on trying to follow-up
on contacts and locate some new contacts as well. I started with our prayer hour after the
Ladies’ Event. As usual, we had a small
number, but it was a nice time. We
prayed for everyone who visited on Saturday and then we made a laminated craft
for prayer verses, especially focusing on Psalms 5:3, one of my favorites. Afterwards, Dwaine and I went out
visiting. First, we went by Luz de
Maria, but she was not home. That was
Della’s group contact. Next, we went
back to our alleyway to see if anyone was home from our previous visit, but
they were not. We retraced some steps to
walk by where a man Dwaine had met works selling fried chicken. He was not there, only his daughter. As we walked back home, we encountered him
and talked on the street for some time.
He teaches English at a small school near our home. Also, he teaches music and runs his
restaurant. Needless to say, he is very
busy. He did say that we could stop by
on Tuesday for a study. We took a lunch
break and then I met Seily for a visit with Reina and Amalia. As we passed along the cemetery road, Vilma
was home, along with her young daughter, less than a year old, and her
mother. We talked about studying and
planned to come back next Monday. When
we studied with Reina, we talked about discontinuing regular studies and just
coming by for visits. We have studied a
long time and she rarely visits, especially services. We will keep in touch, just not on a regular
basis. She did tell us her neighbor was
hosting a wake for the night and needed coffee, bread and sugar. She said three months ago the family lost the
grandmother. Then, since that time, the
mother had passed away. Finally, this
week one of the three daughters died. I
had stopped by there home before to give invitations, but they were not
interested in visiting. Please pray for
the family, the three daughters remaining and hope the opportunity for sharing
with them will open up. For the night,
we had a poor turnout for the New Converts class. Kelly, Nicole and Kiki came and we decided to
wait a week. Later, Cesar said that we
needed to pick up folks as that may be the best way to renew participation. We plan to complete the class early in
September before we return to the States for a visit. Hopefully, we can wrap up with good
attendance.
