March 11, 2015

We have been working in Juayua every Wednesday since we got here and Hector had asked us to consider making this our main focus since the work is just beginning and there is a lot of potential there.  Cesar and Eliza decided they would look for a house there because the commute from Santa Anna is a longer and more tiring one.  It only takes us about 20 minutes to travel from Ataco to Juayua but we will probably move there after a few months if all is going well.  We met Cesar at 9 and spent the morning driving around Juayua.  We really only got to go into two houses and one was really just an apartment and was too small.  The other was a possibility but it wasn’t great.  There were some other leads but we were not able to see the houses yesterday because we could not get up with the people who owned them.  It seems that finding a house in Juayua may be a challenge but it was only the first day.  We did get to go to Sister Anna’s house and had a good devotional with her.  She was sitting on a bench outside her little house and it was so good to see her outside because it is always so hot inside her house.  Right at the end we sang “Thank You Lord” in Spanish and then Charlotte and I sang it in English.  She seemed to really enjoy that.  Then we looked at some more houses.  In the process we ran across two guys on bikes that had started in Canada and had ridden their bikes all the way to El Salvador.  It had taken them 5 months and they didn't seem to have a final destination. Then we went back to Sister Regina’s house and rested some and had some refreshments.  Then Charlotte and I went with Cesar to Mr. River’s house.  He always has good questions and we have an animated study.  We were out about 12 hours and did a lot of walking.  It was tiring, but good day!
