March 17th….Leanna’s Birthday! We started the day with a skype to Leanna to
sing Happy Birthday. She was enjoying
some crepes the Leah made for her birthday.
Happy Birthday Leanna! We spent
the day in Santa Anna with Cesar and Eliza.
They wanted to have us over for lunch but they skyped in the morning
that their water had been shutoff and they could not cook. We responded that we could go out for lunch
and they said that was fine. The AC on the car had stopped working again about
three days ago so we stopped by the garage which was right beside the road we
were traveling on and made an appointment for them to recheck it Monday morning. It is a shame we will not have it for
Saturday, we are taking as many people as we can in our car to the Saturday
meeting that Greg Nance (Rachel’s father) is giving on the family. We got to Cesar and Eliza’s at 11:30 and
visited in their home and talked about ideas for the work in Juayua. At 1:00 we went to the food court in the mall
and after that we went to the DMV to see about getting our driver’s licenses
for here and registering the car for another year. They said we could not register the car until
April because that was the month it was due and our US licenses are good here for 90 days so we
got all the information about what we would need to get the licenses and
decided to wait to get everything at the same time in April since Eliza an Abby
were waiting in the car and there were several people in line. Then we went to Santa Anna centro which is
what they call downtown. I thought it would be lots of store but it was mostly
just street vendors so we walked around some and looked at the old
buildings. Then we went to Mister Donut
to meet up with a couple of other brothers who also live in Santa Anna. Then we went back to Cesar’s house and had
Flan that he had made. We stopped by the
Super Selectos in Ciudad Real and got a few groceries. It is funny how you can always find some
things in each one that you don’t see in the others. By the time we left there it was 7:00 and
completely dark. That made the hour long
trip home seem unusually long because we do not really like to be out at night
and the roads are so curvy and there are always people walking along beside the
road without a flashlight so they are very hard to see. I actually saw one guy riding his bike in the
dark with no lights at all. Fortunately,
he was on the other side of the road from us but it sure seemed dangerous to
me. Anyway, we made it home ok. We skyped with Christina and Dan who were
keeping baby Charlotte at Caleb and Della’s house while Caleb, Della, Leanna
and Tyler went to a concert for Leanna’s birthday. Dan’s birthday is today so we wished him a
happy one a day early.
Mall at Santa Ana
Government Building in Santa Ana
Church that we visited in the Square.
Though this interesting....Back of the church was not white like the front. I think there must be a spiritual lesson here....is what we have on the outside, the same in every aspect of our lives?
Inside the church.
Just a few pigeons.
Handcrafted well...always reminds me of the women at the well with Jesus.
