Morning brought lots of study and computer time. Sometimes it is essential to have that
learning time. We both have a sense that
we have a grasp of the language, but we also both feel challenged that we must
go forward. We want to show our love and
appreciation of our friends here by continuing to grow in our skills. It sure takes discipline to study and we
continue to be amazed that Caleb would put in 8 hours a day on study. For the afternoon, I had a haircut
appointment, so we headed out to Ahuachapan after lunch. We spent about an hour visiting shops and
bookstores in search of teaching supplies in light of the fact that there will
be a few seminars for teachers. Probably
late summer to fall, Rachel, Linda and I are beginning to plan some
seminars. So, I am on the hunt for what
is available in the area. At three o’clock
we met Wendy to go to her home for my first El Salvadorian haircut. I must admit that it was the first time that
I got a haircut with an electric clipper.
Wendy was so sweet. Her mom was there, and she was so funny, we were
almost in tears. Wendy lives on a very
steep incline, so parking and walking to her home was the subject of countless
laughs. She fixed a coconut custard that
was out of this world. I think we all
had seconds. Her daughters, Deborah and
Tanya were also there and we had quite a visit.
Afterwards, Dwaine and I went to Super Selectos to pick up groceries for
upcoming company. The man in the produce
section was hilarious. He kept telling
us about his special Idaho potatoes and I said, that I wasn’t from Idaho. He was so funny. Sometimes when I would pick up some beans, he
would take them from me and show me a better brand, that believe it or not, was
sometimes cheaper. It was great! Once home we ate and baked some cookies. I thought Bryan might come by for a visit,
but he didn’t. We think he is having a
hard time transitioning to our new place.
It isn’t as close to his own home anymore, so he may not come as
often.
Time for a haircut!
Thanks Wendy!
