March 5, 2015

We started the day yesterday with more work being done on the house.  I got the parts  to make  the dryer extension cord and I got that done and it seems to work fine (see picture).  Charlotte spent the morning working on the curtains.  She did not go to bed last night until they were finished.   As usual she did a great job and they look really good.  Then I made two trips to the market to buy things to get ready for all the big meals today.  The brother from Ahuachapan put in the cement ramps for the garage.  We still are waiting to see if they will work.  They look just like two graves and the landlady and her son came over last night and looked at them for a few minutes.  I told Charlotte that they probably said, “Those crazy North Americans, they took out metal ramps and then put in concrete ones”  At noon, we stoped working and went to Apaneca to a birthday party for Hector & Rachel’s son Noah.  We joked that I was sharing it with him since my birthday is today.  He was seven and I told him I was almost nine times that and asked him how old that was.  He said he didn’t do that yet he was only up to subtraction.  Carlos and Linda and Hector’s mother, sister and their family came.  We had burgers with lots of toppings and cake with whipped topping.  We had a great time.  Then we went to our two studies with the ladies.  The younger lady, Stephanie, said she might come to services this Sunday.  This would be her first time and a big step so we are hopefully excited.  Then we came back home and I cleaned the house while Charlotte finished the curtains.  I also installed the new downstairs shower head and it worked so we had hot water downstairs for the first time since we moved in.  If the ramps work and we can get the car in the garage then all will be done and we have not been here a week yet so that is not too bad.

Pouring concrete for ramps into garage.

Setting the concrete with stones atop so people
will not walk on them

Sewing the curtains.

Finished product.
Pleased that they let in some light during day and quite opaque at night.

Eye pleasing wiring for the dryer:)

Noah's 7th birthday party!

Rachel and Noah

Think that there is chocolate cake under all the whipped cream.

Candle time!

Whenever we pass a big group of school kids, they
always speak some English and then giggle.
