March 7, 2015

This post has a note of praise.  Our dear friends in the states, Don and Linda Grizzle have had a difficult weekend.  Don was up north taking care of his mother and had made a trip out of the house. He went missing and Linda had no news for a couple of days.  Last night, she got a call that he had been in intensive care and had been unable to call. He will make a full recovery.  We all have been in prayer for his safety and health and we rejoice with them that all is well.

Charlotte spent the morning yesterday on the computer.  She was translating her lesson for the Saturday afternoon ladies’ class into Spanish and preparing visual aids.  She will tell you how it went.  I had not put any time into Spanish study since we started the moving process so I was hoping to get in several hours of study.  I can communicate but I need a lot of work on verbs.  About 9 the man came with his helpers to put in the grates for the garage.  He had to do some welding so he needed 220 volts which is the crazy plug on the stairs.  He ran a wire through the front door and stuck two naked wire ends into the plug.  I was amazed but it never came out once and worked just fine.  We also had to have the garage open for the regular outlet for his electric drill.  They worked about 3 hours and I had to stand out there with them the entire time because of the open doors.  The wind was blowing very hard almost the whole time as it often does here and the flying dust and trash were just horrible.  Charlotte said I looked like I had a bad case of sunburn but it was wind burn.  The great news is that when they were done IT WORKED!!!!  The car was in the garage last night for the first time since we got here but we have only been here a week and all the problems are fixed.  We are especially enjoying having a clothes dryer because Charlotte was having to iron all our dress clothes.  I did get in some Spanish study in the afternoon-I should be fluent now-HA!!!!

I taught my first ladies’ class this afternoon.  We had a room full and I taught on the rivalry between Leah and Rachel in Genesis 29 and 30 and the birth of the twelve sons of Jacob.  It is interesting that the only child that Leah ‘praise’s God’ is with Judah, the linage of Christ.  Of course I rounded up a couple of very simple ‘science’ object lessons to compliment the application and they workedJ.  We are going to start using the ladies’ class for an opportunity for visitation, so the format is going to change next week.  I was thankful for the opportunity to teach and preparing the lesson helped me practice my Spanish too.

We are prayerful that we will have two visitors for Sunday church, one in Shucutitian and one in Turin on Sunday.

Direct wiring to the 220 V for the welder.

Grates up off the street.

Grates lowered to pull the car into the garage.

Car in the garage after only one week!
