Yesterday was a little less busy because we had studied with
both Reina and Stephanie on Monday afternoon and had scheduled to study with
them again on Thursday. At about 8:30 a
brother from Ahuachapan who had been sent over by Cesar knocked on our door. He had come to look at the grates in front of
our garage. The way they are made causes
the front bumper to drag very badly when I try to back the car out. He talked with the landlady and he is
supposed to be back this morning at 8:00 to take them out and we will see if
that solves the problem. She also sent a
young man by to look at the downstairs shower which has no hot water. He is supposed to be back this morning to fix
that and I showed him how the large iron sliding garage door is almost impossible
to move. I don’t know if he is going to
fix that or not. I am also hoping to get
the materials today to make an extension cord for the clothes dryer. I am going to run a cord from the crazy location
of the plug on the stairs out to the balcony just above it. There are no locations for a dryer vent so
the balcony will be the best place and it is not far from the plug and is well
covered. So, we have a few adjustments
to make on the new home but we like it pretty well. We are the first people to live in it so I
guess it is no surprise there are some problems. We also found out that a man was just moving
into the adjoining house who is El Salvadoran but speaks very good English
because he lived in England for several years.
I washed the car again, total futility, because it had writing all over
the dust on it and I was not sure what the words were. Because we had some time we went to
Ahuachapan to get some groceries and we went to a store someone had shown me
called Bomba. There were 11 students in
the store who were from the Univ. of Florida on a vacation trip through Central
America. They were leaving later
yesterday to go to Antigua. It was
funny running into them. We got back in time for Charlotte to have her study
with Kathrine and then we went to the 5:30 home Bible Study at Zoila’s. We have been to this one every week and
Carlos always leads it. We were a little
early but at 5:30 we were joking about where was Carlos. About 2 minutes later he called me and said
he was not going to make it and could I lead the study. I had no preparation but it was on the life
of Moses and we had just been to the study Hector led the night before on the
same subject. Everyone knew about Moses
pretty well so it went ok. My Spanish did get lots of laughs, especially
when we talked about Moses’ excuse to
God about not being able to speak. I
said, “And he was not 60 and trying to learn a foreign language”. Keep us in your prayers.
Dwaine ready to teach a lesson!
