Happy Birthday to Me! I got something for the first time since we arrived...a little rain shower, with a rainbow to go with it! Well, it rained just enough to dirty the car something fierce! We were expecting Wendy, Fernando and their families for lunch. We thought there might be as many as 12
people but in the end there were only 6.
We spent the morning getting ready. I had cleaned the house on Thursday night so I
peeled potatoes, peeled eggs (we had potato salad), snapped beans, cut cantaloupe
and went to the market for drinks and tortillas while Charlotte cooked. She made me a chocolate cake with chocolate
icing. They arrived about 12:30 and
stayed till 3:00. We had a great time, I
told them I appreciated their coming for my birthday though none of them knew
about it till they got here. They were
all friends of Caleb and Della and since Caleb could not go to work because of
the weather, we skyped them in and everyone sang happy birthday in Spanish and
then in English. Christina had called
early in the morning and sang happy birthday to me. We had a few minutes break
between 3 and 4 then Cesar and Eliza and Aby arrived. They did come because of my birthday. They brought me a coffee mug with ‘Brazil’ on
it and a delicious fruit covered birthday cake they had bought. We had cake and coffee and visited a while
then we had dinner about 6 and they had to head back to Santa Anna. Bryan and a
friend of his dropped by, but didn’t stay.
It was good to know that Bryan found our new home. We cleaned up the dishes and skyped with
Leanna. Clifton was out of pocket for the day.
By then it was about 9 and that
is pretty early, but we were worn out so we went to bed. The nights are much quieter in this house
than they were in the other one. Several
people had warned it would be really noisy because it is directly in front of
the school. But it is not that noisy and
that is in the daytime anyway which doesn't matter and at night there are only
a few people living in this area so sleeping has been good.
Can you tell? It's raining!
Nice reminder of God's faithful promises.

Forgot to take a picture before we cut the cake!
I got this done with only one cake pan:)
