November 11, 2015

When I went in the kitchen this morning Charlotte had her hands covered in dough because she was kneading bread to make rolls to use in the children's class tonight to illustrate the stones to bread temptation.  She said she needed a large bowl to put the dough in.  I thought she was saying that I needed to wash the dishes because there was some bowl she needed that was dirty.  I had not washed the dishes last night and there were quite a lot of them.  After a few minutes she gave up and got the bowl herself and said I had missed it.  That was a perfect example (sure was not my intention) to use in our class tonight on communication in marriage.  We had found a study on communication on the web that had some illustrative pictures with it and decided to try our first power point presentation since we now have a projector.  At 9 Cesar and Arnoldo arrived for our Wednesday visits and studies.  First we went back to the lady up the street that we had met yesterday who had lost her grandson 7 months ago.  We took the flowers and some cookies that Charlotte had made and had another prayer with her but only stayed a few minutes.  We went by Mr. Rivas' house but he was out.  His mother was still struggling with recovery from chikungunya.  We visited for a few minutes and prayed for her.  Then we went to Delmy's and had a good study with her but she said she worked at the Gastronomica (the big food festival that is held in Juayua every weekend, funny- I thought it was some special occasional event but alas it is every weekend because Juayua is a very touristy place on the weekends) so she would not be able to come to Sunday services.  Then we went by and had probably our last study with Julia.  We had wanted to wait until we started our Sunday morning services to see if she would be more likely to come because she always had family when we went by on Sundays for 5 pm services.  She said that actually Sunday mornings were even worse for her so looks like she is just not going to make a move and we have covered everything we know to say.  At some point we just have to accept that our time would be better spent with some other prospect.  After lunch we went by Sara's and she was home this time.  After the study she said she would come to the 5:00 service.  Then we went by and visited with Sister Ana then went back home and did our last minute getting ready for the marriage class.  We took two tall tables from our house for the projector and computer as well as all the things for the children's class.  As we were on the way I realized I had done a last minute look over of my material then left it lying on the table at home.  There was nothing else I could do but drop Charlotte off with all the stuff we brought and then run back to get it.  As we arrived, Sara and her two children were walking up (her first time ever).  Fortunately, Juayua is not very large and I still got back to services about 5:15 just as singing was beginning.  During our presentation there was a heavy downpour and we had to speak very loudly to be heard and Charlotte said it sure made her throat hurt.  It was funny at the end because we just kept having people making comments waiting for the rain to stop.  It finally slacked off enough to make it.  After we got home Kelly and Nicole walked over for a visit.  Charlotte had invited her to come to the cooking session Friday with Luzelena and she said she could.  We are glad because that will be a double good influence for her.
