New developments and I have contracted something in Juayua. We received a call last night from Brother
Carlos that Bro. Mario Laura who lives in Santa Ana and works in the same congregation
with Daniel Azucena was interested in looking at our house and or the one next
to us. We had told Carlos and Linda
Saturday night at the dinner in Ataco about our finding the other house and
making an agreement with the owners to start renting it in January. Brother Laura and his wife have a small cafe
in Santa Ana and the gangs told them they would have to start paying a bribe or
move. They are supported by a congregation
in Lebanon, Tn. And have to talk with the elders from there and then decide
what to do but they are trying to decide in the next couple of weeks. Carlos said they would come around noon today
so I decided that after our walk while Charlotte finished getting ready for
everyone to arrive for our Monday meeting I would run back by the new house and
talk with the owners one more time to make sure all was certain before offering
our house to someone else. We had
decided since we had just bought our stove and the refrigerator works fine that
we would just do the $250 per month and keep ours and not use theirs. However, when I got there they said they
really had no place to put them and did not want to rent the house unless they
were part of the deal and the rent would be $300. I tried to argue with them some but they
would not budge and it was still within our budget that we had set when we
first planned to move here plus she said they were leaving a living room set
and some other items they did not have room for since they also have all of her
sister's furniture. Anyway, I said we
would go ahead and take it. It is really
one of the prettiest and nicest houses we have looked at and if they had said
$300 without any furniture Saturday we would have taken it anyway so we now
will have two stoves and two refrigerators unless we work something out about
ours with someone else. We will wait
till we move and see how we can arrange things.
So we agreed to meet at 3:30 to go to a lawyer's office and sign the
contract and pay the deposit of 1 month rent.
When I got back to the house it was almost 9:30 so Carlos, Ricardo and
Cesar were already there. We mostly
discussed the event for tomorrow here in Juayua, the classes starting in the
schools next Monday and about our team coming next summer. We still finished a little early because we
did not have as much to cover and all went well. About when we were finishing up Bro. Laura
called and said he was at Cesar's house.
Carlos was going to see Regina since she had her surgery so he dropped
me at the hardware store to get the key to the house next door and then dropped
Cesar off at his house. I got the keys
and walked back and just as I arrived so did everyone else. There was Bro. Laura, his wife Sally, their
son Giovanni, and Bro. Daniel Azucena’s wife and three kids. We showed them our house and the one next
door and talked some about their situation and had a prayer together. They did not stay long. After lunch Charlotte and Arnoldo worked on
getting ready for Wednesday night's class and I went to get the tire fixed. Turns out there is only one tire repair place
in Juayua but they were not busy and I got it fixed and back on in about 20
minutes. Then I picked up Charlotte and
Arnoldo and we went to Sherwin Williams and got some paint sample strips then
we went to our new house. They took us
to the lawyer's who had an office across form the hardware store. It took about an hour to write up the rental
agreement and he only charged $12!!!
When we got back to their house we paid the deposit and got a receipt
then Cesar joined us and we went for a study with Raul and Anna. Note, when I took the keys back to the house
next to us the landlord was not there but his wife and son were. I asked if they were coming to our house for
the study tomorrow night. The lady
hesitated but little Jimmy said “Well, Dad and I will be there for sure."
Daniel's wife and two boys,
Mario Laura with wife, Sally, and son, Geovanni
GIANT ANT in the shower! Yikes!
