I haven't got a prayer-or have I.
Today was the big day for the last Family Seminar of this year. It was held in Ahuachapán at the San Rafael. They have a large and nice building. Brother Manuel Azucena was the speaker. The topic was keeping your family involved in
ministry. He certainly was qualified to
speak on that topic because all his 4 sons are involved in ministry positions,
Osvaldo and Daniel both have pretty good sized congregations here in El
Salvador, Jose is the youth minister in a large congregation in San Salvador,
their youngest son, Samuel is in a preacher training school in Texas, and their
only daughter, Eliza, is married to Cesar, our preacher here in Juayua. He spoke for two sessions in the morning and
for the one afternoon session there was a question and answer session with all
the children who were present as well as spouses and their children. There were several people involve including a
master of ceremonies. I had the prayer
for lunch. I do not do long prayers yet
so for my first part I read the prayer of Paul in Ephesians 3 his desire for
Christians to comprehend the love of Christ.
Then I prayed about that and for the seminar and for lunch. It went fine but there was one sister who
must be struggling with the problem of truthfulness because when she walked by
me during lunch she said my Spanish was perfect. Anyway, I had said I would lead the lunch
prayer for the seminar August 22 but we had to buy our tickets to return for
our visit to Huntsville by Aug. 21 st. because at the time our 1 year visas had
not been approved and our 3 month visas were due to expire on the 22nd. So since I was not able to keep that
commitment when they asked for a volunteer to lead the lunch prayer this time I
spoke right up. It went fine but I was
nervous and am glad it is done. We had
gone in two cars since we had enough space to not have to rent a van. When we got back to Regina and Pedro's, he
asked if we could go ahead and have a meeting about the offering. We are going to open a bank account for the
offering next week, hopefully Monday, and they had been keeping it so they
wanted to go over the journal of intakes and expenses with us and give us the
money to deposit. Cesar, Regina and I
will be on the account and it will take 2 signatures to withdraw money. We decided to ask Arnoldo and Cesar to do a
count after each service and then Cesar will do a deposit. Our funds and contribution are not very large
but we felt the time had come to have an account in preperation for the time
when we can rent a place for the church to meet. The meeting went well with everyone in a good
spirit of agreement and brotherly love and I was glad we could make another
needed step in the growth of our little family here.
