First Sunday morning service.
We began today with our first morning service here in Juayúa. Not only was it our first
Sunday morning service, it was our first morning service of any kind in Juayúa. For the next few weeks
until the services begin in Salcoatitan in January we will certainly have more
time on Sunday mornings. We had been
leaving for Ataco services at least by 8:40 and we did not have to leave this
morning until 10:15 so it was nice. We
had time to go for a walk and even pass through the market for a few
minutes. Charlotte had baked a large
sheet cake (red velvet-delicious!!!) for those who had birthdays in Nov. Kenia and Pedro had both had birthdays this
month. Pedro just turned 50 and Kenia
was 19. We needed some large plastic
container to put the cake in for transport but did not find anything suitable
so she emptied out one of our storage containers we had bought when we first
got here last Feb. and discovered we had mice in the first house in Ataco. She said she wanted to continue making the
birthday cakes at least until January when Arnoldo has his birthday and then
she might not continue because when the Salcoatitan group starts meeting with
us the group will be so large that one cake will not be enough. Alas, when we served the cake after services
Cesar said how it was becoming a wonderful tradition of having Charlotte's
cakes to celebrate the birthdays each month.
On a funny note, Charlotte may be the only one to have a birthday in
December and so she would be baking a cake only for herself. The afternoon was nice because we did not
have another service to get ready for.
We rested some and then went for a walk through the market to look for a
few items we might send back with David and Suzie for Christmas presents. We had some success. The markets are mostly only open on weekends
and this was our last one before they come next week. We are excited that we will get to have them
over for dinner on Thursday evening. We
rounded out the evening by getting to talk to all 4 of our children on
Skype. Christina was the last, she was
just getting back from a 3 day trip to New Orleans. Sure was a nice and more relaxed Sunday at
least for a few weeks. Ps. I stole Clyde Jones' talk about Come to
Supper to talk about the communion. As I
spoke of it being our first time to miss Thanksgiving with our children and
their families I think Charlotte may have been a little sad but we at least get
to see them a lot thanks to Skype. Think
of us when you are celebrating with your families and keep us in your prayers.
Birthday treats.
First visit from Nellie, from our contacts made in Salcoatitan
Nice fellowship.
