Surgery day. We were up and at Regina’s house by 7:30 to
take her to Ahuachapan to the hospital for her surgery. Just Regina and Elizabeth went with us but
Kenia and Zuleyma were there and crying as we departed. Even though she was scheduled to have the
surgery at 5:30 pm they wanted her to be at the hospital for admittance at 9
am. We arrived closer to 8:20 but they
said there was no need to wait they could admit her right away. From the outside front the hospital looked
fairly modern but pretty small. When we
got inside it just kept going and going in all directions and ended up being
pretty big. Even though Regina could walk just fine the attendant asked her to
sit in a wheel chair so he could take her where she needed to go. At first they took her down stairs which was
a short trip by stairs but a long trip around the back side by wheel chair
ramp. The room was nice and very
clean. After a little bit the nurse came
in and said they had decided to move Regina back upstairs to be closer to the
nurse’s station. We thought we might
wait until she got moved but they did not come back and we had to leave about
10 because we wanted to run by Dollar City for Charlotte to get some items she
needed for the ladies class on Friday at the event in Salcoatitan and we wanted
to go by Selectos because the one there is bigger than the one in Juayua and we
needed a few more items for the arrival of the Nances for dinner tomorrow night. We got back home about 12:30 and had lunch
and even rested for about 10 minutes.
Then we picked up Cesar and went to Sister Ana’s for our weekly
visit. She said she was in a lot of pain
and had been for the last few days. We
sang a few songs, had some prayers and a short lesson then went by Sara’s to
see if she was at home and she was. She
had been working this week, getting up each day at 4 am to take her little girl
to Mario for him to watch her for the day and then going on to work. That is a 30 minute walk down a rough road in
the dark sometimes carrying their 3 year old daughter. She said that yesterday she had jabbed her
leg pretty badly with a plant that she was pruning. Apparently her job was to prune plants at a
place that prepared them for export. She
said it was difficult work and that after hurting her leg yesterday she did not
go back today. We talked some about the
book of Job and why this life is so difficult and that at times there are
really no answers that we really want but that God is still in control and that
His people will still gain the victory.
By the time we finished it was 4 and we asked her to come to the 5:00
service and she did. Mr. Rivers also
came. It was good to have some
visitors. Most of Regina’s family was at
the hospital, so we did not do the marriage class so that Charlotte could teach
the children. She helped them prepare a
gift for Regina’s homecoming. We got a
call about 8 to say the lady prior to Regina had taken a long time and Regina
was just going in. About 9 we got a call
to say that she had done well and was in recovery. Finally, about 10 we got a call that she was
in a room. It was an answer to
prayer.
