November 21, 2015

There is a house in Juayua.  When we went for our morning walk Charlotte needed to pick up a few items from Selectos so we drove to town and parked near there.  We walked a long way down the street past Socorro and then past Cesar and Eliza and down into an area we had not been much before.  We did pass the largest vet clinic we have seen in Juayua.  We have not given Wicket any vaccinations and are still considering it though she is pretty isolated except for slight contact during our walks.  When we passed back by Socorro’s front door we saw her and she said she could still go with us at 10 to look at a house for rent that she had heard about.  She had five people to stay with her for the night, and she was really excited that her hostel had a good number.  Business has been slow for her.  While Charlotte ran into Selectos I walked down the street to the hardware store and got the keys to the house next door from the landlord.  When we got home we went over and looked at it again.  It was too short for the car to fit in so we could not have a garage on that side.  The only way we could figure out was to move the dining room/kitchen into the last two rooms which were next to the bathroom and pila and open to each other.  That would leave one room for a bedroom larger than the one we have now and we would have to use the room our kitchen is in now for the garage.  One negative is that the big patio really needs new flooring and looked pretty bad.  Also the room that adjoined the possible kitchen area was really dark and had no window.  We were really undecided.  On our way to Socorro’s we dropped the keys back off but did not say anything since he was busy anyway.  I did not have much hope for the house Socorro had found because she said it did not have a garage.  It was just a block down the street from her house and when we got there the lady explained that her sister who had lived across the street had died about a year ago and left a very large house. They had been remodeling it but it was finished so now they wanted to move into it and their house was available for rent.  It did have a garage as well as a huge living room, 2 large bedrooms and one small one and a long patio room that had sliding glass doors that opened on the large patio as well as a nice bathroom and an American style kitchen with lots of cabinets.  It was very pretty and we loved it but figured it would be a lot…at least $400 to $500 -then we asked and she said $250 per month.  We could not believe our ears.  Most of the houses here have been expensive.   This was one of the very nicest ones we have seen and that is a very good price considering.  She took us across the street to show us her sister's house they were moving into and it was amazing.  It seemed to go on forever with 8 bedrooms and each one had its own bathroom with shower and hot water in every one. It also had two formal dining rooms.  It was impressive.  Still we were overjoyed to get such a nice house at such a reasonable price.  She said they would move all their furniture out and then repaint every room and she said Charlotte could pick out the colors.  She also said they may sell some furniture since her sister's house was furnished also.  She is supposed to call us next week and we are going to go ahead and do the 1 month deposit and hopefully look at what items they do not want.  We are supposed to move in January1.  Nelson had said he could not study today or make it to class so I told Charlotte it would probably be only Carlos and Arnoldo so why didn't she stay home and get some things done while I taught them.  Sure enough they were the only ones and we mostly just talked through a few pages of the lesson.  When I got home I walked over to see if Jose and Kelly were available to study but the kids were home alone and said they were both working.  About 4 Kelly and the 2 children walked over and we had about a 45 minute study.  They said they would try to make it to services tomorrow.  We had to head out for the 5:00 service in a downpour and it rained hard during most of the service.  Regina was doing some better after getting some medicine for pain.  I talked about the book of Ruth since Cesar was out due to being at the 1st Graduation of the preaching school in Santa Ana.  At 6 we headed to Ataco to go to a restaurant with the Nances, Cortezs, Cesar and Eliza, Carlos and Linda and a few other families.  We had quite a crowd and a great time but on the way out of Juayua I ran over a board that must have had a nail in it because as we were driving out of Ataco after the meal someone on the street stopped us and said we had a flat.  I could not find my jack so I called Carlos and he arrived in a few minutes and we got it changed.  Fortunately my spare was good.  We got home about 9:30 but all was well and we had had quite a day.
