November 4, 2015

Bumper crop.  Dwaine took the car early to have the bumpers worked on, thinking they could finish them up today.  The garage near our house is always busy.  Morning hours included a walk with Wicket and finishing up lessons.  Cesar arrived at 9:15 to start the studies for the day.  First, we stopped by Mr. Rivers.  For the first time since our trip to the States, he was home and available to study.  A few times since our trip, we had stopped and he had chikungunya.  But he was feeling better and it was good to renew our study.  He said he would come next Wednesday night to church.  While we were studying, the preacher, Miguel, arrived from Santa Katarina.  Miguel is Mr. River’s uncle.    It was good to see him too.  Next, we stopped my Delmy’s and she said that she was washing clothes and the afternoon would be better.  So, we stopped by Julia for a short Bible reading.  We will be winding down on our study with her, but we are prayerful that she will come to our Sunday services when we change the time to morning.  It is sad that she does not want to make a decision.  After lunch we headed to Sister Ana’s.  Dwaine and I walked from Regina’s and we got there before Cesar and Regina.  It was funny.  We went on in and we got to talking about food.  Dwaine told a story about buying only 4 tortillas for lunch and she thought that was funny.  She could not understand why we didn’t like tortillas much.  Dwaine said that they weren’t on our diet now.  But, he went on to say that we had gone to Nelson’s on Monday and had pupusas for dinner.  She said she wanted some!  Then, I said I had learned to cook them and she said for me to cook her some.  What was funny, she asked how tortillas weren’t on our diet and pupusas were!  The bottom line is that pupusas are just stuffed tortillas, with even more calories!  We laughed a long time about that!  After Ana, we went by Omar, Gisela and Emile’s home, but they were not there.  We were trying to ask them if we could come on Thursday because we were having a study with Delmy.  So we went on to Delmy’s and she had a big crowd…..at least 6 adults to listen to the lesson.  Two of her daughters are always there, but they don’t always sit in because of their own children.  Today, everyone listened and made comments.  There were two ladies that we met for the first time.  It was a good study.  At four we headed back to the house to finish our lesson translations, check on the car and get ready for service at 5. The car was all sanded and compounded, but not painted.  They said they could paint tomorrow, so we took it on for the night.  At 5 it seemed like everyone was slow in arriving, so we didn’t really start until 5:30.  We went to almost 7 and Arnoldo ran out of crafts and sang all the songs he knew for the children.  Ricardo and Joli had given us some bags of food to distribute and one we gave to Aracely.  She had quite a walk home so we drove her home since her bag was so heavy.  Then, we dropped off Zuleyma and called it a night.
