Feliz cumpleaños, Carlos. We had our Salcoatitan meeting this morning
instead of on Monday. We found out after
he got here that today is Carlo’s birthday.
He is 33. Charlotte said she
would have made him a cake if we had known.
She did make chocolate zucchini bread.
He ate several pieces as did Cesar.
I did eat one and it was good. I
thought it was just chocolate brownies.
We talked about the values class and planned an event day in the area of
Salcoatitan near the home of the elderly sister we had visited. The event is primarily aimed at the kids but
we came up with the idea that Charlotte might could give some type of talk to
the mothers if they came. We hopefully
can try one of these in Juayua sometime in December. Carlos had taken the information about the
morals class and the English class by the school in Salcoatitan but the
director was not in and the assistant said she would make sure he got the info.
But Carlos had not heard back from him yet so there is no date for starting
there. We are supposed to start in
Juayua on Monday Nov. 30th. After
the meeting, Carlos and Cesar loaded our old stove in Carlos’ van to take to Gesenia, a sister who lives in Apaneca but
has be coming to services here some with her sister and two daughters and who
had a very old stove. I told them all
its problems and they were going to try to fix them. At 8 this morning the man arrived who was
going to work on the AC in the car. He
said he thought it had a very tiny hole in the system and just needed some stop
leak and new gas. I had given him $40 in
advance to get the stuff he needed. He
put in two can of combo gas/ leak detector but the cans had nothing on them
about stop leak so I am a little doubtful.
It was really cold when he left so we hope it will last. Then I took the car back down for them to
paint the bumpers. They did get them
done but then about 30 minutes after they were done it started raining and
messed them up so I have to take it back again in the morning. In the afternoon we worked some on getting
ready for next week’s marriage class and Charlotte worked on the children’s
class for next week and this Sunday in Santa Ana. After dinner, I got out the projector Caleb
and Della had given us and we watched our first “big screen” movie. It was called The Woman in Gold and was a
true story about a lady who fled Nazi Austria and had some family paintings
stolen by the Nazis. One was a painting
of her aunt by a famous artist and it was worth lots of money. Won’t spoil it if you haven’t seen it but it
was pretty good and we enjoyed the big screen.
Almost finished bumpers.
Looking good.
Closing in on this job.
