Last
day. We knew it would pass quickly, but
alas, Sunday is the team’s last full day here. We headed out for Shucutitian about 8:30. I had fixed lunch for the girls, but we did not
plan to stay after church. Hector
mentioned that the morning service would be a little long because they were
going to do their graduation for the English students that Carolyn had taught
for the 6 weeks that she had been here.
It was a nice ceremony and the Huntsville group was also
recognized. We sang both some English
and Spanish songs, so that was fun too.
Afterwards, we headed for Juayua.
The seminar group was going to Ilzalco, so they had a little distance to
go. We had the younger set, so we had
several things on the agenda for Juayua.
First, we ran into Julia. She
said that she would come to evening service, so we said we would come pick her
up about 4:20. Then, we went to R &
R Restaurant on the main street to order.
They said that it would be about 30 minutes to cook, so we told them we
might walk around a bit and come back.
As it ended up, Dwaine and I went out for a stroll, but the young set,
stayed and played a game while they waited.
After lunch, everyone wanted to look at souvenirs, so we headed for the
market. We found Jim’s first advanced
English student and he said that he didn’t come back because his grandmother
had fallen and broken her hip. We also dropped by the store where Omar, Giesela
and Emily worked at their family business.
They were really busy, so we did not stay long. After an hour, we went to deliver food to the
couple with the man who had broken his leg.
They were really appreciative of the help. Then, we went to Sister Ana’s to have a devo
with her. We usually sing an English song
for her, so the group did about 5 songs.
She was really feeling bad, so we did not stay long at all. Then, we went back to Pedro’s to wait for
service. We left a little after 4 to
pick up Julia, but she said her grandson was coming for dinner at 5, so she
could not go. We walked to Mr. Rivas and
asked if he was home to see if he could come, but he was out. Next we went to Jose’s and Kelly’s and only
Kelly and her two children were home.
They were ready to go though, so we left to go back to church with a car
full. When we arrived, a big crowd had
gathered. Osvaldo had brought a big load
from Ahuachapan. Omar, Giesela and Emily
came and Nelson and Ruby also arrived.
It was tremendous to have such a big crowd. Also, the policman’s wife
came with her children too. And, Ana and
Raul came along with other members. Wow,
it was a great blessing. Jim taught and
Osvaldo led singing. Afterwards we went
out to dinner for Papusas and we had a big crowd to gather for this as
well. It took quite a while to serve
everyone, but it gave us lots of time for visiting. We headed home before too late because Jim
and James had some packing to do. We
sure were tired, but happy.
