Visitor! Early Wednesday, we headed for Juayua with
lots to do. First, we went to copy extra
English papers for Saturday. This is a
necessity since we think some of the contacts from the team’s English class
will come to our class. We want to be
ready. Then, we went by Sister Regina’s
to pick up the last two food bags.
First, we stopped by Hose and Kelly’s.
There we received bad news.
Peggy, the mother dog of the two puppies died, unable to deliver her
third puppy. We were so sad. Kelly was giving baby formula to the puppies
and we knew that was not good. We
thought we might research better alternatives later. Next, we went to Julia’s
but she was taking a bath. So we went to
Mr. Rivas, but he was not home. Then, we
stopped by Dellme and she invited us in for the first time for a Bible reading
and a prayer. That was great. Her daughter sat in on the study too. Then, we went to Julia’s for a study. She was delighted to receive the food
gift. We studied and she said if we came
by at 5, she would try to go to the study.
It was noon and we went to Cesars.
Eliza and Lisabeth had made chicken soup and we took a quick rest. It is hard to visit from 12 to 2 during
lunchtime. We looked on the internet and
got a recipe for puppy formula. Dwaine,
Clifton and I headed out to make some contacts on housing and pick up the
ingredients for the formula. In route we
hit a big insect and thought it was probably a grasshopper. When we stopped, we realized it was a huge
beetle. There were two things I could tell. One it was a female because the mandibles
were not well developed and it was probably a wood boring beetle since the
antennae were so long. I guessed right
on those things. Later, I looked it up
and it was Callipogon barbatus. When we tried to go by Kelly’s house, it was
locked up. So, we headed to Mario and
Sara’s house. Mario is the man with the
broken leg. I took some papaya bread and
we had a study. We set up another study
for Monday afternoon. Then we went on to
Sister Ana’s. On the way, we saw hundreds of small butterflies in the sky. I said in Spanish that maybe an earthquake was
coming since animals act strange before an earthquake. Actually, I thought it was probably a
migration like the Monarchs that go to Mexico every year. However, there was a boy and his mother
sitting nearby and they laughed that I made such a silly comment about the
earthquake. I felt a little sheepish,
but, hey, you will have to read part 2 on this one for Thursday. It was great to see Sister Ana. She was improved in her health since Sunday,
so that was good. Afterwards, we dropped
Dwaine and Pedro off at their house.
Clifton drove Cesar home and then the two of us went by Kelly’s one more
time. Ernesto was home. Sadly, one of the puppies had died. I dropped off the ingredients for the
formula, but we were not too hopeful for the last puppy. Then, we went on to Julia’s. She was ready to go! We were so excited she was going. I drove and she was really surprised I could
drive. We had a great service and Ana
also came as a visitor. It was great to
have a houseful. We did miss having Nelson
though. Then, we took Julia home and
went by Selectos one more time. It
looked stormy going home, but it didn’t start until we got home. We were expecting company at 9 the next day,
so I stayed up to the midnight hour cooking.
Large Beetle: Callipogon barbatus
(The male would be 1 1/2 inches longer!)
Close up beauty!
Look close....all the dots in the sky are butterflies!
Julia came to service!
