First day
out. We headed out about 8 for Juayua.
We stopped at Isabel’s to pick up some bread for lunch and then arrived
at 8:30 to unload lunch and get ready for the class. Cesar arrived about 8:45 with the key and we
worked quickly. I had fixed lunch for
the group and that ended up being quite a challenge. While there were three outlets, there was
only one outlet that worked, so Rodney ran up to a store and got a power
strip. When everything was plugged in,
it kept flipping the breaker, so it was a challenge. Students arrived and we had a small group for
the morning with 5 students. We had one
advanced student and Jim studied with him.
About half the people headed out for morning door knocking. The first class ended about 11 and I got
lunch finished up with lots of helpers.
After lunch I took left over food to Sister Regina’s home so they could
share that with her daughter who had just had a baby. We swapped groups for anyone who wanted to go
door knocking and Jim went out with Cesar to study with people we had already
been studying with. There were about 16
students for the afternoon English class.
The group that planned to go to other cities worked on preparing their
classes and I went out with Clifton, Eva and Fernando. We had a couple of contacts that will give us
some follow-up to work on in the weeks to come.
About 3:30 we headed back to English class so that we could go to dinner
at 4. We are trying to have early dinners
so the traveling group can eat.
Afterwards, we headed to the evening service. John gave a great lesson on the wisdom of
Solomon. He talked about how the queen
of Sheba had traveled a great distance to see if the stories of Solomon’s
wisdom were true. Then he asked what the
wisdom of Solomon has to do with us and how Jesus referred to her and said that
a greater one than Solomon was here and that true wisdom is to believe in an
follow Jesus. Our English student Nelson
who had come to the afternoon English class also came to the service and
brought his daughter, Ruby, who loves the children’s classes. After services, Cesar said in front of Nelson
that he would be a brother soon, he just smiled. We hope to start studying the Bible with him
at least as soon as the campaign is over.
I taught the children’s classes.
Afterwards, we left for home and worked on getting ready for Wednesday.
