Half way
there and another good day. We got up Wednesday
and started getting ready for Juayua day.
Charlotte was trying to cook some more bread and needed some wheat flour.
As I headed up the street I heard running
footsteps behind me and Bro. George who lives up behind us in Triumphal caught
up with me. We talked for a moment and I
thought he said he was off to catch a bus to Ahuachapan and then he ran
on. I went to all the 4 stores in Ataco that
sell some groceries but no one had wheat flour, only rice or corn. Guess they just don’t use a lot of it here
but it is available in Selectos. Soon
after I got home, George showed up at our door.
He came in and sat and had some sweet bread and drink while we finished
getting ready to leave. Then when we
left he headed on home. When we got to
Juayua we asked Cesar to call immigration to find out the status of our
visas. They don’t call you, you have to
call them. Anyway, my visa was approved
and waiting to be picked up but not Charlotte’s. This was not really a big surprise because
our papers had gotten separated since each person is considered on an
individual basis and my papers had been sent to the last level almost a month
ahead of Charlotte’s. They said hers
should be ready by the end of next week and that we could wait and pick mine up
at the same time. Caleb and Della had gone
thinking both of theirs were ready but only Della’s were and they had to go
back again. Another learning from their
experiences. Still, it was good news and
if mine were ok then Charlotte should be for sure because the man who did hers
was much more thorough and kept saying how much he wanted to make sure
everything was done so there would be no problems. So we headed over to Mr. Rivas. We had a good study and we presented him with
a Bible. When we started to leave we
asked if he might come tonight and he said yes!
Then we went to Julia’s and studied with her. She had a cold but not too bad and she said
she would still come to the 5:00 study.
We headed back to Cesar’s house where Eliza and Elizabeth had prepared
lunch for us. Spagetti and tortilias and
it was great. After lunch we had a 1:30
study scheduled with Mario and Sara but they were not home so we went on to
Sis. Ana’s and visited and studied with her. I had brought some crayons and coloring pages for Gisela at Mario and Sara home. But since they weren't there, I gave them to grandchildren of Sister Ana. As soon as I did, Sister Ana said she would like to color. Her hands are so knarled, so we were surprised. But we laughed and said I would bring some next week for her. By the time we finished our study, the three children had completed their pictures and came running out to show their handiwork. I told them the story of the pictures. What a fun way to share God's word. On the way back we stopped and visited a lady Charlotte and Clifton had
contacted during the door knocking when our group was here and she said we
could come back next Monday. Then we
dropped Cesar off at his house and went to visit Omar and his family. We had about an hour visit and set up next Wednesday
at 3:30 to start studying with them.
Then we went by Selectos and got a cake for Julia since Sunday was her
birthday also. When we got to her house
she was not able to go after all but promised to come Sunday. Charlotte gave her the cake and she really
beamed. I walked around to Mr. Rivas and
he was waiting for me out front of his house.
It was his first time to come to a service and it was really good. We had 4 visitors for a Wednesday night
service and that is exciting to us. Mr.
Rivas and Nelson both asked some good questions and it was a great study. The days since the group arrived have been so
full and good and we are reaping so many blessings from their being here. We are also enjoying Clifton’s time with
us. A funny story- as you learned from
yesterday’s blog, Charlotte learned to make pupusas and she made a lot so we
took a good batch to give to Mario and Sara but they were not home. At first we had put the pupusas in the frige at Cesar’s and at lunch when we
talked about learning to make them Cesar said and they brought us some and
Eliza said thank you. We explained they were for the other family
and they were very gracious but when the other family was not home we sent the
pupusas home with Cesar again. He was
very sheepish about it but at the service he told us he ate 6 when he got home
and they were really good. We laughed.
