Newton’s
Third Law of Motion. We had some studies
we wanted to do in Shucutitan and Clifton wanted to visit some friends. We started out with Natividad, but she had a
porch full of people. So, we just
visited. Her grandson was home from the hospital. He had pneumonia, but he was so much better
and was smiling like crazy! That was
good. We told her we could come back in
the afternoon, but she said it would rain.
Since it is such a climb to her house, she said to not try to return if
it rained. Of course it did and we didn’t….Her
daughter showed us a way to walk through the coffee fields to get to the
Shucutitan road without having to go down the mountain and then, to go back up
again just down the road. We came out
just right. Clifton got to visit several
friends and made an appointment to see another on Saturday. After several visits, we returned home for
lunch. We rested about 30 minutes and
headed out again. The rain was starting,
but we got a short visit in with Reina and then, went on to Bessi’s mom,
Marta. We arranged for a cooking day so
I could learn to cook papusas.
Yeah!....that will be next Tuesday.
Then, the rain started coming down hard!
After a bit, we decided to head out.
Dwaine went first to get the car.
He pulled up at the door. Clifton
jumped in and then it happened…..For every action, there is an equal and opposite
reaction. My only option to miss the
water was a small stone to the side of the car door. My feet moved forward and I got one foot in
the door. But, for the opposite action,
the door swung out and I was in limbo hanging out the door….of course getting
soaked. Dwaine and Clifton thought I was
in danger of hurting myself (like I have never done that before). But I knew that I was only in danger of
sitting down in the river of water. It
was hilarious. Dwaine was able to reach
out and pull me in, but I did get wet!
We decided to try to go on to Katherine’s for a study, but she did not
answer her door. I think when the rain
comes down in torrents, people just don’t get out. So we headed home. It did slacken by evening, so we went to
Zoila and Osmin’s for a Bible study. It was a good group and Clifton got in
some visiting time. Clifton and I headed
back to the car ahead of Dwaine and passed a young lady with four young
children. She recognized me and asked if
the Bible study was complete. She was
Osmin’s sister and I had visited her several months ago. The ladies’ class had gone to her home one
time and had given a gift of money because her home had burned. I will have to refind her current home and
drop by to encourage her. We called it
an evening with that.
